South African Partnership

On Thursday 18th November Whitchurch High School (Cardiff, Wales), Macassar High School and Restoring the Sound (Cape Town, South Africa) reaffirmed their joint partnership.

Whitchurch High School presented a glass Red Dragon to our two South African Partners.  All three organisations have established a unique international partnership over the past three years facilitated by a three year British Council International Schools’ grant which ended in 2010.

The Red Dragon symbolises the next phase of our relationships.  Whitchurch High school recorded a DVD which was played on the presentation of the Red Dragon in a whole school assembly in Macassar High School.

The presentation was made by Gareth Matthewson (former Headteacher of WHS) and Heather Guy (former deputy Headteacher of WHS), who were both coincidentally in Cape Town.  Yusuf Abrahams (headteacher Macassar High) and Trevor Sampson (founder of Restoring The Sound) were delighted to accept the Red Dragon.

We hope that both Macassar High and Restoring the Sound will visit Whitchurch high School towards the end of this current academic year in June/July 2011.
