National Autology Award
Alex Darby of Year 8 has won a national monthly prize for carrying out research on the Internet in support of his learning in his subjects at Key Stage 3.
More specifically, he was awarded the prize by AUTOLOGY, a company who have designed a sophisticated search engine that eliminates all the information on the Internet that is of little use to most school pupils.
It allows young people and teachers to search very specifically for information that has been vetted and of use in education. It has many functions, including the ability to highlight sections of text that are specific to a search, to search at the appropriate level of each key stage and to provide quality video back-up to published articles.
It can even search for you in the background while you are typing a document and providing information relating directly to the text. Alex has certainly seen the worth of this and gained his prize for his excellent use.
Yes, it can even assess how well a student is using AUTOLOGY. So if you haven’t used AUTOLOGY at all, or very little, then it’s long overdue that you did. You can access it at home or in school and you are lucky in being in one of only two schools in Cardiff that have access at the moment. All the instructions are in Shared Documents or ask one of your teachers.
