International Celebrations

On the 14th July, Whitchurch High School had the pleasure to host the first International Celebrations Fair attended by teachers, parents and pupils from nine Cardiff schools.

The event opened at 16.30 with a warm welcome from Emily Daly, Cardiff Council Advisory Teacher for MFL and International School Linking, followed by a presentation by Mrs Carla Davies, our International Co-ordinator, on International Partnerships and their impact on school ethos.

The presentation culminated in a brilliant performance by Alexandra Maclean-Smith (year 8), who delighted the audience by playing violin. Alexandra had already performed at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Challenge on Monday, 11th July.

After Alexandra’s performance, it was the turn of Cantonian High School pupils to entertain the audience with a fantastic rendition of “La Bamba”.

The audience was then invited to visit the different stalls and beautiful displays presented by the respective schools, including Rumney High School, Willows High School, Llanedeyrn High School and Whitchurch High School. The charity Rwanda Restored was also represented by Miss Julie Edwards, Toby O’Leary( Year 9) and Miles Pearson (Year 9).
