Sporting Chance

This years house matches were again a massive success, giving over a thousand pupils the chance to take part in the four day event, from year 7 all the way to year 10. The tournament for the boys includes 5 a side in the morning with each house having A, B, C and D teams. Then comes rugby in the afternoon, with A and B sides competing, whilst the girls have their hockey tournament in the morning and netball in the afternoon.

The pupils also helped raise almost £500 for Sports Relief and had a great amount of fun in the process. The atmosphere during the week was fantastic, with respect and encouragement for others often coming to the surface even though the competition was fierce.

To see all pupils having the opportunity to play competitive sport during that week gave the department great satisfaction and the fact that the rain kept away was an added bonus.

Let’s hope we can build on this success again next year.
