Literacy at WHS
Year 10 student Luke Richards struck gold recently, with a win in a Cardiff Council competition to improve pupils’ Literacy skills.
Luke was selected amongst a small group of students across the whole of the city to receive a £20 book token, after competing in the Council ‘Literacy Crime’ competition.
He spotted the famous mistakes in signs across Cardiff, pointing out how they ought to be corrected, as part of the Council’s Reading Power initiative.
Luke was accompanied to the presentation in May by Assistant Head Stephen Clark, who runs the school’s Reading Day initiative in Year 7. He received his voucher from Council Chief Executive Jon House in May.
