Cricket Internationals

Five internationals, plus a host of other talented players, have made up the Under 14 crickets sides this year. Kiran Carlson, Jamie Mills, Prem Sissodya, Sam Wall and Naomi Davies have all been selected to represent their country, while Chris Vanos, Alex Boorman and Ben O’Neil have all earned county honours.

This year, the XI won a place in the national final against Olchfa Comprehensive. Bowling first, they impressed, but had to rely on skipper Jamie Mills (8J) to hold together the innings when batting, with a knock of 38, before Prem and Alex saw the side home to victory. It brought the trophy back to Whitchurch for the first time in fifteen years.

Team Coach Tim Henson has been bowled over by the quality of cricket on the Whitchurch wicket, and after winning the Cardiff & Vale competition last year, the team now moves forward to aim to qualify for the National Lords Taverners competition next season That would be a first in the last fourteen years for a Whitchurch side, so let’s hope they are six-cessful!
