Spanish GCSE visit Barcelona
In May of this year some of our GCSE Spanish class travelled to Barcelona for an educational visit to develop their language skills and to experience some culture and heritage first hand.
We were blessed with four days of sunshine and Mediterranean heat.
Highlights of our trip included a guided trip of La Sagrada Familia cathedral in central Barcelona. Antoni Gaudí’s world famous architectural design is visited by thousands of visitors each year. This imposing and striking structure is immediately visible on the Barcelona skyline and it’s equally impressive inside. Gaudí’s idea of fusing nature and the Divine through his architectural vision is apparent throughout the cathedral.
We also spent time meandering down La Rambla. The tourist hotspot of Barcelona! It’s an avenue which gently descends from the city centre to the pier at La Rambla del mar. La Rambla is a feast of entertainment and an assault on the senses! We all thoroughly enjoyed the sights, sounds and scents as we strolled past the restaurants, street entertainers and local artisans in the Catalan sun.
Another highlight was the high octane and adrenaline fuelled excitement of Portaventura on the Costa Blanca coast. None of us were the same after “Furius Baco”!
We all enjoyed our opportunity to practice our language skills and experience some true Spanish culture.
