Year 7 Design Challenge

On Wednesday 14th July 2010, 15 Year 7 pupils took part in the second Year 7 Design & Technology Challenge.

After last years successful event this year we were able to invite more pupils to take part.

The challenge is set using designer Martino Gamper as inspiration who set himself a challenge to design 100 new chairs in 100 days in 100 different ways.  Last year he sent the Design & Technology department a signed copy of his book to congratulate us on a successful project.

The pupils this year had to design a chair in groups and use old, broken or recycled chairs to build their designs.  The chairs created by the pupils this year are absolutely fabulous and show a real understanding of the task and the creativity of the pupils involved.

Can I take this opportunity to thank the pupils involved who behaved excellently, to Mrs Mcleod, Mr Cahill & Jessica who help with the smooth running of the day and to all the people who donated their old or unwanted chairs.

Take a look at the photos to see the brilliant chair creations!
