Spark-Tacular
In the run-up to this year’s Sparks in the Park fireworks extravaganza, children across Cardiff were asked to submit their own artist’s impressions of the event.
The competition was divided into three categories – nursery and infants, juniors and secondary – and the participants had to design an impression of a firework display.
Harley-Leigh Ansell, year 8, won the secondary school category and won £200 towards new school equipment as well as a family ticket and the promise of VIP treatment and a goody bag at Saturday’s firework spectacular.
Harley-Leigh was handed her prize by Education Minister Jane Hutt at a presentation held at the Senedd on Tuesday 27nd October 2009. Her colourful artwork was chosen from hundreds of entries by Red Dragon presenters Kam and Sally, which is sponsoring tomorrow’s firework event organised by Cardiff Round Table.
Her winning artwork will be shown on a big screen at the ‘Sparks in the Park’ event on Saturday 31st October 2009.
