Design & Technology Challenge

Congratulations to all students who took part in the 2010 Design challenge. An exceptional standard this year, well done. Mindful of the recent tragic events in Haiti the students were asked to design and build a temporary shelter to be used in the event of a national disaster. Eighty five students attended and sixty five parents came to the presentation. There were some fabulous structures made from 4 reams of A3 paper, 22 rolls of masking tape and over 2000 nuts and bolts! There were at least as many smiles the students obviously thoroughly enjoyed the event.

The Key stage winners for excellence in the D & T strands were:-
D & T Graphic Products - Angharad Jones 9G
D & T Textiles - Shambhavi  Pranoy 9M
D & T Systems & Control - Samantha Wainwright 9N
D & T Resistant Materials Technology –Joshua Moore 9W

At the presentation Tom Salmon was also complemented on his award from the student innovation exhibition and was delighted to be able to exhibit his work, a talking cricket bat, to the attending parents.

Chris Harris – Head of Design and Technology.
