Cardiff - Stuttgart Association German Prize

As a pupil of exceptional ability in German, in February 2010 the MFL department entered Scott Blankenship in year 11 for the new Cardiff-Stuttgart Association German writing prize, aimed at pupils studying German in Cardiff at secondary school.
Scott wrote an excellent piece in German, fulfilling the brief ‘What learning German means to me’. In May, Scott and his parents, together with Frau Carter, were invited to the Lord Mayor’s residence, the Mansion House, to await the result. Disappointment this time, as Scott was beaten off by stiff competition from a Sixth Form student at Howells.
An excellent achievement by Scott, still only studying for his GCSEs. He received a certificate and a book in German as a runner up prize from the Lord Mayor and the Honorary German Consul for Wales. Howells had better watch out next year, when Scott will be studying IB German in the Sixth Form!
