Blowin in the Wind

A team of top physicists from year ten became wind farm developers for the day during an experimental workshop led by Amy Nunn from Techniquest.  They took part in a competitive, puzzle based activity where they were tasked with identifying suitable sites for wind farms.

They had to consider various environmental, social and financial factors and then finally pitch their proposal, in true Dragon’s Den style, to gain planning permission for their development.  Our physicists approached the task with enthusiasm and determination, each team desperately wanting to win the vote of approval from judge for the day, Miss Woodman.  The presentations were both entertaining and informative and finished off a session thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.

A big thank you goes out from the physics department to Amy and her Techniquest team, Mr Crossan, Miss Woodman and of course to the pupils involved, who proved to be worthy ambassadors for the school.
