Senior Sports Dinner
This year was another great success for our senior sports men and women and it again culminated in our annual senior sports dinner. This year a large number of pupils attended and it was excellent to be able to welcome the staff who helped with teams and members of the school senior management team to the evening.
The guest speakers this year were Mr Paul Tito and Mr Xavier Rush form the Cardiff Blues. Both players were fantastic with the pupils and participated in an excellent question and answer session with the pupils and staff!
Questions came thick and fast form both students and staff about the Heineken semi final game last Sunday when Xavier said he would have taken a kick if asked! Pupils asked what its like to be a professional sportsman who have travel the world and experience different cultures and they were also quizzed about the chances of the British Lions have this summer. (The verdict is top secret! LETS HOPE THEY ARE BOTH WRONG!).
Both players did say they will return to New Zealand when they finish playing (the weather is better there!).
Excellent speeches were made by all our senior captains:
Netball – Sarah Platt
Hockey – Carys Tucker
Rugby – Tom Rowlands
Football – Aaron Elliot and Mitchel Martyn
Boys Hockey – Patrick McDowell
The main prizes for Players Player of the year for 2009 were awarded to the following students:
