Mock Exam Results Day

On Wednesday 21st January the School held its first year 11 mock exam results day before the start of school in upper school hall.  Students eagerly assembled and received in an envelope the results of their mock examinations that they sat before Christmas. The experience helped to focus each student’s thoughts on their potential future and the implications for sixth form entry or further career paths. We even managed to replicate the seasonal August summer rain!

During the course of the rest of the day each student had a personal interview with a senior member of staff to reflect on their results and many were able to follow this up with a further session with a careers advisor if needed. We were also able to start booking up the in-house revision courses that we will be running in the school over the Easter holidays.

Everyone agreed that the day had been very productive, and thanks to all those who made the day such a success, including visiting Careers Wales staff.  All students have now set themselves a personal target on what they want to have achieved when they open their “real envelope” in August. Many students have already shown they are on target for tremendous results but there can be no complacency. Others now recognise the adjustments needed for summer success.  We all know that for everyone, much hard work lies ahead. However with the support and guidance of all, the rewards will be well worth it.
