Fair Trade Fashion Show

On September 30th the upper school hall was transformed into a Fashion House and Whitchurch High hosted its first Fairtrade Fashion show.  Pupils from years 11, 12 and 13 became beautiful models for the evening, Mrs. Anthea Thomas, Head of Textiles, was one of the charming and very amusing hosts and lots of pupils and staff worked behind the scenes to make it an evening that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The clothing modelled on the evening was made by companies such as People Tree and Gringo, that not only use fair-trade fabrics but that also ensure they are produced under fair-trade standards. I am sure that all those present on the evening would agree that the clothes were not only gorgeous but very reasonably priced. Proceeds from the evening went to PONT-MBALE, a local charity which has recently been awarded 2 United Nations Gold Stars for its work in alleviating poverty in Mbale, Uganda.

A huge thank you goes out to all those that worked so hard to make the evening so enjoyable and also to all those that came along and supported the work of Fairtrade and PONT.  If you missed this years show be sure to watch out for next years and come and enjoy the beautiful clothes, jewellery and not to mention the delicious home made cakes!
