This where the governors will post the latest invitation to parents
and friends regarding any specific meetings called. In July 2009 the
Whitchurch High Action Group (WHAG) was formed and they will help
support the governors in opposing the proposals of the Council to
reduce Whitchurch High School from a 12 to 9 from entry school.
We thank all those parents and friends
who attended the meeting on Tuesday 24th March at 6:30 pm in the
Dutch Barn on the lower school site. The purpose of the meeting was
to discuss the submissions made to the Council’s Schools’ Sub
Committee regarding Whitchurch High School. We are grateful for the
support received.
On
Thursday 2nd July 2009 the Council’s Executive Committee
decided to put out to formal consultation to reduce
the size of Whitchurch High School from a 12 to 9 form entry school.
Over time from September 2012 to September 2019 the school would
reduce in size from its present size of 2,300 pupils to
approximately 1,700 pupils and between 25 to 30 staff would be made
redundant.
The
proposal is to keep the school on its present two sites but to sell
half of the current lower school playing fields to generate capital
receipts in all associated three primary school options and in
addition part of the upper school playing fields in option two.
The
total capital investment scheduled would be approximately £7.5
million. There will be a period of formal consultation in September
to October 2009. The specific dates of this consultation period are
unknown.
Whitchurch High School governors are opposed to this preferred
option to reduce the size of the school from a twelve to nine form
entry.

will keep you informed.
