In-Service Educational Training days are an entitlement for all staff, teaching and non-teaching, for Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

The professional outcomes of these INSET days will allow the school to collectively provide opportunities and strategies to further raise individual student achievement.  Normally the school is closed to students on INSET days. However there are occasions because of examinations when some students are required to attend school.

There are seven INSET days scheduled this year with the two Summer Term ones subject to inclement weather closure conditions.

The following dates are Whitchurch High School scheduled INSET days:

1       Monday 5th September 2011
2       Tuesday 6th September 2011
3       Monday 7th November 2011 *
4       Friday 13th January 2012
5       Monday 16th January 2012
6       Thursday 31st May 2012 **
7       Friday 1st June 2012 **

* Joint INSET DAY between the five 14 to 19 Central Cluster Partnership Schools consisting of Cathays, Cardiff High, Llanishen, LLanederyn and Whitchurch High Schools.

** Leighton Andrew AM, Education Minister, determined in September 2011 that all maintained schools will have an additional two INSET days in the Summer Term 2012, subject to non-school closure for inclement weather. These two days for Whitchurch High School will be Thursday 31st May and Friday 1st June 2012.
