Whitchurch High School is a co
educational comprehensive school with over 2400 pupils on roll. The
school is based on two sites in the north Cardiff suburb of
Whitchurch. Our intake is drawn from eight feeder primaries based
across a large area of north Cardiff. The popularity of the school
means that it is oversubscribed in all year groups.
Our sixth form is one of the largest
in the country with over 500 students studying a range of courses,
including the International Baccalaureate, AVCE's, AS/A2 and
individually designed programmes for students with special needs.
The comprehensive nature of the school is therefore fully reflected
in our sixth form with courses available for pupils of all levels of
abilities.
We are very proud of our excellent
examination results at Advanced Level, and the high proportion of
students who move on to University. We are equally proud of the
outstanding achievements of our special needs department in helping
many pupils with learning difficulties.
Individuals are also encouraged to
think about their role in society and to consider the needs of
others. Charity work and community involvement therefore feature
strongly, motivating our students to become responsible citizens of
the 21st century.
The needs of each individual student
are reviewed at regular intervals throughout their time with us. One
of our fundamental aims is to produce responsible students who
posses the qualities which equip them for further study or
employment.
We are a forward looking innovative
school in which well proven, traditional values are allied to the
best of modern teaching methods.
We aim to achieve excellence.
I hope to have the opportunity to meet
with you in the future.
