Foundation Status
Welcome to this section of the Governors’ website which will be regularly updated to provide further information as Whitchurch High School becomes a Foundation Status school from 1st September 2011.
On Tuesday 8th March 2011 Leighton Andrews, Minister for Children Education and Life Long Learning approved the governors’ application for Foundation Status for Whitchurch High School from 1st September 2011. The school will continue to be a maintained Cardiff County Council School.
Joyce Slack, Chair of Governors, Chair of Governors commented: “Governors at Whitchurch High School are delighted with the Welsh Assembly Government's decision to approve our proposal that Whitchurch High School become a foundation category school with effect from 1st September, 2011.
The Welsh Assembly Government makes reference to the fact that Whitchurch High School is a good school and should continue to be so as a foundation category school. Governors look forward to continuing the existing good relations with Cardiff County Council and partners and are confident that with our skilled and experienced staff and the support from parents and the community Whitchurch High (foundation) School will continue to seek improved educational opportunities for all its pupils.”
Huw Jones-Williams, Head teacher commented: “Now that the school’s status has been finalised we can all collectively focus on ensuring that we continue to provide the very best education for our pupils to further raise levels of achievement. We will continue to work closely and in cooperation with the Local Authority, engaging the support of all at the school, parents, governors and the wider community to do so.”
