We are all born with an urge to understand the universe around us. This leads us to ask questions such as "How does a mobile phone work?", "How does the Sun keep on shining?", "What is dark matter?", "What are the ultimate constituents of matter?", "How did the Universe begin?". If you find that the more answers you discover, the more questions you want to ask, then you are on the road to becoming a physicist.

The Physics team teaches within Key Stages 3, 4, 5 and contributes to the KS2/3 transition. At GCSE most pupils will follow the new Science/Additional Science curriculum, with some pupils opting to study an extra Physics component in year 11. Applied Science, Astronomy and Electronics are other GCSE subjects that are available within the department. Courses available at post sixteen are Physics AS/A2, Physics (Higher/Standard) International Baccaulaette (IB) and Electronics AS/A2.
