PAINTINGS by children from the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan have been made into a calendar to promote racial harmony.

Almost 1000 children took part in the Schools Against Racism 2008 calendar and poster competition organised by anti-racism charity REF.

The Cardiff winners were: Emily Mears age 14, Hannah Stephens age 13 and Conor Uruski age 13, all of Whitchurch High School, Holly White age 11 of Corpus Christi High School, Daniel Smith Age 10 of Ysgol Y Wern, Peter Wilson of Radyr Comprehensive and Olivia Kate Paterson of Rhydypenau Primary School.

They received £50 in vouchers and £150 for their schools presented by the Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Councillor Gill Bird. The competition theme was ‘Equal Treatment, Equal Respect!” and it was sponsored by Julian Hodge Bank.

The calendars and posters are available free of charge from REF on 2022 4097
