Last weekend the year 10 Netball squad travelled to Torquay for a Netball tournament and activities weekend. During the weekend the girls took part in Adventure activities e.g. Quad biking, Zip wire, Indoor rock climbing and Aero ball as well as playing in a Netball Tournament.

In the Tournament Girls played against girls in both years 10 and 11. There 10 teams from England, Wales and Ireland. The opposition was really tough and we had some close matches.

The B Team did extremely well and the scores from their matches and their final position in the tournament didn’t reflect the games they played- all players played fantastically and deserve to be proud of their performance. There were outstanding performances from Grace Thomas and Laura Bishop resulting in them being voted players of the tournament.

The A Team played above all expectations and reached the final having- won 8 of their matches, drawing one and narrowly loosing a match by 1 goal. The semi was to be a tough game against an Irish Year 11 team who had beaten them in the previous round. The girls were outstanding and fantastic shooting by both Lauren Morgan and Claire Watkinson secured a 1 goal lead going into the second half- they managed to retain the lead and won the game by 1 goal. The Final came and we faced another year 11 English team- another tough game and unfortunately they lost by 2 goals and were crowned runners up of the Tournament. All players deserved to be players of the tournament but Fantastic shooting by Clarice Watkinson and tough defence by Amy Groves resulted in them being voted A Team players of the tournament.

Well done to all girls involved- it was an excellent weekend!!!!!
