The Assassination of Franz Ferdinand
Homework Assignment
For this homework you must imagine you are a journalist and you are reporting the on the events in Sarajevo when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. You must complete the frontpage of two newspapers.
The idea is that you show that you show that understand that this event can be interpreted or understood in different ways. For example if you were a Serbian journalist you might not be too upset at his death because you hate Austria and you support the Black hand gang. The front page of a Serbian newspaper might not be very sympathetic to Franz Ferdinand's death. On the other hand if you were an Austrian joournalistn you would be very angry at the Black hand gang and would be very upset at the death of one of your royal family.
If you click here I have made a frontpage template for an article. You do not have to use this you can make your own template. I think that a wordprocessed newspaper looks a little better but you can create your own page by hand if you wish. Just make sure the articles are well presented.

Austrian Newspaper An Austrian newspaper would be very angry at the death of their prince. Austria believed it should rule over Serbia and would want to punish the Serbia and the criminals who had killed their prince |
Serbian newspaper A Serbian newspaper would not be very sympathetic to the death of Franz Ferdinand. Serbians did not like Austria and did not want to be ruled by Austrians.

German newspaper A German newspaper would be angry. Germany was an ally of Austria. As a German speaking nation the newspaper would want to punish the assassins and Serbia. |
You should choose ONE of the above countries and write about 150 words on the assassination from the point of view of that country.
You should hand in 2 Articles that show different views of the assassination. If you are successful you will show that you are able to demonstarte and understanding of how historical events can be interpreted in different ways.
There will be Worthy pf Praise points awarded to work that shows imagination and effort.
