Step back Fiona
Bruce and move over Davina McCall. Whitchurch High School has it’s
own tv presenting star of the future in Year 11’s Ellie Crawley.
Named last year as the Best Presenter in a regional media
competition. Ellie this year hosted the annual Media 4 Awards
Ceremony for Cardiff and The Vale at BBC Studios, Llandaff.
Our star in the
making was given time outside of lessons to prepare for the
glittering show held on Wednesday October 24th, 2007.
After a week of rehearsals, the show went on, in the presence of
many local dignitaries
Alone behind the
podium, Ellie opened the 90 minute show, introducing guest speakers,
and presenters of awards, to the 300-strong audience. She dazzled
the crowd with her professionalism and calmness in front of the
cameras, even drawing praise from HTV Wales’ own Justina Simpson,
who remarked that she was stunned by how relaxed and glamorous Ellie
looked in such a tense environment.
Mr Kevin Brown,
present as the school’s link to the Media 4 company, noted: ‘She’s
been outstanding as a presenter since Year 7, and I’ve never seen
someone cope so well with such a daunting task. It’s a wonderful
event to list on anyone’s c.v.’
‘Ellie fully
deserved every single compliment she was paid during after the
show.’
This is merely the
latest step in Ellie’s fledgling career as an actress and presenter,
and all staff and pupils should watch keenly to see just how far her
talent can take her in the years to come.
