Mr Kevin Brown of the English department has been awarded a Media 4 Champion Teacher Award for 2007 for his work with film-making in the school.

Each year, the Media 4 company asks for nominations for teachers who have given up their time to help students make the most of media opportunities in their school.

This year, as the man responsible for introducing Ellie Crawley to the company, as well as making six films entered in the 2007 Awards, and winning £100 for the school as the school’s director of its ‘Best Golf Film’ entry, Mr Brown was awarded a certificate and a bottle of champagne as one of six teachers selected by the judging panel.

The new aim for this year’s award winner is to find a way to win the ‘Best Overall Film’ award at next year’s ceremony, which this year went to Llantwit Major Comprehensive. Ideas are already in the pipeline for an emotional short film based on coursework produced by his Year Ten students.
