At Whitchurch High
School there has always been a strong tradition of Drama. It
is a subject that encourages pupils to explore creatively the world
in which they live. Pupils use their imagination; develop thinking
skills and self-confidence in a fun and stimulating environment.
The very nature of Drama gives coverage to all key skills, in
particular Communication, Improving Own Learning and Performance,
Problem Solving and Working with Others. It also contributes to the
teaching of emotional literacy. Drama helps our younger pupils to
develop speaking and listening skills and assists in the teaching of
Shakespeare.
Throughout KS3 all
pupils are taught once a fortnight with the option of take up at
GCSE and AS/A Level. SEN pupils continue to study Drama throughout
Key stage 4.
Drama productions
produced each year are:
The Young
Playwrights’ Festival – December
The Main
