The department aims to provide an opportunity for students to develop and sustain an interest in Design and Technology, in order that this will lead to a greater understanding and appreciation of how the subject impacts on their lives as individuals and on the environment in which they live. Students are encouraged to cultivate their problem-solving skills by finding practical solutions to realistic and stimulating problems.

The department aims to enhance the area of the Whitchurch High School curriculum that encourages creativity, problem solving and decision making, while developing an ownership of the curriculum. We recognise our role in producing the professional designers and engineers of the future and also to encourage and support students in every way possible, assisting them in realising and fulfilling their ambitions in Design and Technology.
