Whitchurch High School is a popular co-educational maintained comprehensive school with almost 2,400 pupils on roll. The school is based on two sites in the suburb of Whitchurch. Years 7, 8 and 9 are based on the lower school site off Manor Way, with Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 students on the upper school site in the Village.

We are an inclusive school and have a SEN Specialist Resource Base (SRB) on both sites which admits up to seventy pupils from throughout the city. Cardiff Council separately administers all admissions for the SRB in partnership with the school.

As a Foundation School the governors are the Admissions Authority and therefore directly manage all mainstream admissions.

Students are identified through the Annual Review Process in their Primary schools usually during year 5 and if the SRB at Whitchurch High school is a consideration, then parents are invited to visit.

Please note that staff at Whitchurch High school cannot decide who will be allowed a place.

This decision is made by the Case Advisory Panel, following all advice received during the student’s Annual Review process.

When the Statement is amended to show Whitchurch High school SRB as the placement for the student in year 7, then a Transition programme will be implemented. This will begin in the Summer Term in year 6.
